The Basics

MPT is the best tuner for the Ford Ecoboost F150 & Raptors.

With a combined tuning experience of over three decades, and a focus on individual customer service, the question should be, Why not MPT?

It's no secret that tuners work, it's been proven time and time again. Sometimes, they are called programmers, chips, and even downloaders. Their function is to write the new file into the vehicle's computer.

The difference you get with MPT is not only the results, it's also the experience.

MPT is considered the most trusted and established Ecoboost tuner amoung the F150 and Raptor community.

Guides and answers to questions, helpful tips, time saving instructions.

Anybody can sell a tuner to you.

MPT does this all day long. You want an expert when dealing with programming your vehicle.

About Us

We focus on a specific small list of vehicles to ensure we are the best and what we offer. Our website will show the vehicles supported.

While there are many vehicles that share similar, if not the same engines, the software involved in tuning the vehicle can be very different.

Click Here to be notified of when tuning is available for your vehicle.

If you do not already have one, purchasing a tuner / programmer would be the first step. Simply go to the section for your vehicle and click the Tuners & Programmers Icon. We sell tuners by SCT, COBB, and HP Tuners.*

As an added bonus, you can add MPT Tunes to any tuner for a discounted, additional cost.

Should you already have a supported programer, you can purchase MPT Tunes, by themselves.

*Vehicle support will vary.

A Flash Programmer (AKA Flash Tuner) is a device that will immediately increase the horse power, torque and fuel economy for your vehicle. You choose the type of tune based on the type of performance you desire. Tunes can be switched at any time in a matter of minutes. Plus, it's 100% reversible.

Tuners compatible with our MPT Tunes:
  • SCT
    • X4 7015
    • Livewire TS+ 5015P
    • BDX 40490
  • HP Tuners
    • RTD
    • nGauge
  • COBB
    • Accessport

Which tuner is best will differ from person to person, based on their needs, wants, and situation. If you're unsure, contact an MPT expert and they'll be glad to help you find the one that suits you best.

No, you do not. As long as you have a supported device that is unlocked and ready to use, you can urchase and use our tunes.

However, by purchasing the programmer from us, you will know that you are getting a brand new tuner that is 100% set up to work with our tunes and your vehicle. In addition, for many vehicles, we offer the option to preload the tunes for you before it is shipped to save you time and energy. This is the MPT Prioritized Order option.

"Pre-Loaded" or "Canned" Tunes are pre-set tunes designed by the manufacturer to cover stock through slightly modified vehicles. They are designed to give a noticeable difference in performance. An MPT Tune is a tune designed from start to finish for your Exact Vehicle, the type of tune you want, the Modifications you have, and the Performance you Desire! From the best gas mileage possible to the most power period, a Tune from MPT can get it done.

MPT conducts dyno research on all vehicles supported. Testing over and over until the best results are achieved while retaining safety of the engine. This is custom tuning. The tunes we email out have been custom tuned to the max, to take it even further than that though, we also offer data logging reviews. This process provides us with real-time data of your vehicle with our MPT tune. If we see any necessary changes, we will take that info and further customize the tune specifically for the vehicle. It's not uncommon that MPT recognizes mechanical issues in the data log and can help diagnose or point you in the right direction for resolving it.

Pre-Purchase Tune Questions

MPT is proud of our reputation, while some tuners are known for blowing motors, MPT is known for quality tunes and customer service. Our goal is to deliver tuning that we can recommend with a good conscience. The tunes we sell have been dyno tested more than we want to admit, they have been emissions tested, they have been street tested. We run these tunes in our vehicles daily. PR-X is our preferred daily driver tune. Then on top of this solid base, we also offer data log reviews to confirm everything is good to go. This can help one find items that could contribute to issues if not resolved, such as low engine oil.

This is a tough question for us to answer for the simple reason that the dealership is a 3rd party. They can literally do whatever they want. We can't speak on behalf of a 3rd party. They can void your warranty for changing your air filter if they are feeling like being a d-bag that day. That being said, we tune these vehicles all day log and customers getting their warranty voided is not a problem we deal with. Our tunes are safe and effective to not cause damage that a dealership would blame on tuning. If this is a concern of yours, our only recommendation is talk to your dealership. Otherwise, simply reload the Ford stock file before going for service. Our general rule is after the 1st oil change you are ready for tuning.

Absolutely not. It is More Power Tuning's (MPT) policy not to manufacture, offer for sale, sell, convey, or otherwise transfer any product, including Handheld Devices, Pre-Loaded Tunes, or Calibrations that contain features to bypass, defeat or render inoperative the following: EGR, Rear Oxygen Sensors, SCR, DPF, NAC, DOC, or any diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) associated with these emission controls. Products/Calibrations shall retain the full operation and functionality of the On Board Diagnostic System (OBD), will continue to satisfy emissions requirements, such as meeting standards within useful life or maintaining emissions performance outside useful life. MPT does not support modifications that remove or alter the emissions system of the vehicle. MPT will not shut off check engine lights caused by non-emissions compliant parts installed. MPT has proven night and day difference in power while conducting extensive emissions testing to document reasonable basis that the vehicle is not adversely affected.

No aftermarket modifications are required before you can use MPT Tunes. Tuning should be your first modification for your Ford vehicle. The biggest gains are delivered with MPT tuning. Most other modifications require no change to the MPT tune. The few modifications that do require MPT tuning can be adjusted for. There is no reason to wait for tuning until after other modifications. For many customers, MPT tunes are the only modification done to their vehicle and they often mention wishing they didn't wait. When driving MPT tunes, customers agree this is how it should have came from Ford.

It is always best to own a computer of some kind, when working with tuners and tunes. It may not always be needed, but it is good to have access to one for various reasons, such as tech support or updating the tuner. A Windows-based computer is generally preferred.

Use overlay text to give your customers insight into your brand. Select image and text that relates to your style and story.

Yes, you can! Many of the SCT Tuners we sell have the option to Prioritize the Order for an extra cost. This will have us load the tunes to the device before it ships. Do keep in mind that not every vehicle is supported. Please review the tuner's product page or contact an MPT Expert for further information.

This will depend on what tuner you are using.

SCT 7015PG-B Tuner - No, to tune a 21-22 Ford F-150 or Raptor 3.5 Ecoboost with SCT, the pcm doesn't have to be removed and sent in. The tunes are installed by connecting the SCT Tuner directly to the pcm. In cab flashing is not supported. Data logging and other functions remain in the cab.

Cobb Accessport Tuner - Yes, to tune a Gen3 21-22 Ford F150/Raptor with Cobb, the pcm has to be removed and sent to Cobb. The unlock is included in the price of the Cobb Accessport and they provide a secure box with next day air pre-paid label both ways. Cobb processes the unlock quickly, typically 1 day turnaround time and it's own it's way back to you. After that, the process for tuning the vehicle is through the obd2 port in the cab.

HP Tuners RTD Tuner - Yes, to tune a Gen3 F150 21-22 Raptor/F-150 with HP Tuners, the pcm must be removed and sent in. HP Tuners charges a $100 unlock fee and you are responsible for shipping both ways. Turn-around time is usually around a week.

Tune Selection Questions

MPT offers multiple tuning options for our supported vehicles.
*This is a brief overview of our most popular options, but more information will be available to you when filling out your MPT Tune Form.

PR-X Series
  • MPT's signature tunes for those looking for huge increases in low-end torque and acceleration, faster 0-60 times, quicker 1/4 mile results, and shift points optimized with a focus on performance, the shifts points will happen at a higher rpm/mph than stock and will be firmer than stock.
  • If your vehicle is equipped with a Sport Mode, it will have a noticeable increase in throttle response above that of the already increased base shift mode.
  • The PR-X tune is available for 87, 91, and 93 Octane Pump Gas and a variety of Ethanol mixes E30, E50, and E85.
PR-X No Trans
  • All the benefits of the above PR-X but has the trans setup very mild for those that prefer the stock feeling shifts.
Daily-Tow Series
  • Designed to be a performance tune and a towing tune hybrid, the main difference is the peak boost. The peak boost is lower than PR-X but we were able to keep most of the improvements from PR-X. Throttle response and part throttle boost are still a drastic improvement over stock. This tune can be referred to as the "Street" or "Daily Driver" tune with a focus on all-around performance but not so much that it is no longer a good idea to tow with it.
Adaptive Any Octane
  • This tune can be used with any octane fuel, the concept behind this tune is to take the improved shifting and performance of the PR-X tune but leave spark, boost, and other items stock allowing them to adapt the fuel in the vehicle. Throttle response and part throttle acceleration will still have a noticeable increase over stock.
Perf-Econ
  • The Perf-Econ tune, also known as Performance Economy Hybrid is a blend of low-end fuel economy and top-end power. Great tune for those that want the option for power but don't want it full-time.This tune keeps the closed pedal and very low throttle positions controlled to make sure fuel economy is optimized. It also has improvements in power and throttle response at higher pedal positions.
**Not all tunes are available for all vehicles.

Our MPT Tunes make the most power we feel comfortable with for the type of tune it is. Our tunes that are designated for towing will make less power than MPT PR-X tune which is for performance. We have dyno graphs and information available for most tunes.

The PR-X tune is designed specifically for maximum performance. MPT's Daily Tow tune will offer the best results for towing. This tune can be referred to as the "Street" or "Daily Driver" tune with a focus on all-around performance but not so much that it is no longer a good idea to tow with it.

Yes, transmission tuning is included with all of our tunes. MPT does not charge extra for Trans Tuning.

MPT Tunes can remove the speed limiter on your vehicle. MPT can raise the speed limiter to a set value or even lower the speed limiter, per your request.

MPT Tunes will increase the throttle response. MPT also has the ability to reduce it or increase it further, upon request.

Yes, you can get the tunes with the stock transmission tuning or "no trans tuning", as we like to call it.

To claim your MPT Tunes, you will need to submit an MPT Tune Form.

You can find a link to the tune form here: Tune Form

Purchases made through American Trucks' website are required to have a tune form submitted through their system, not through ours.

Receiving Tunes Questions

MPT Tunes will be sent by email upon completion. Even when purchasing the "Prioritized Order" option, so the tunes are preloaded onto the tuner for you, MPT still emails you copies of your tunes.

2-3 business days is the general turnaround for MPT Tunes to be built and sent to a customer. We do provide an option for expedited turnaround of 24-hours called Rush My Tunes for tune only purchases or a "Prioritized Order" option, if you're bundling the tunes with a tuner.

When MPT emails your tunes, included in the email are step by step instructions on how to load the tunes to your tuner, along with other very important pieces of information.

Written instructions can also be found here:

  • For an nGauge: Click Here
  • For the Cobb Accessport: *Page Under Construction*

The adjustable options are features that allow you to make adjustments to the tune before it is loaded. The majority of these options we set within the tunes themselves. The tuner can't read the tune to fill in the blanks, so it will display generic values or settings. We leave these options open for things as a change in axle/gear ratio or tire size. This saves you from having to pay for your tune(s) to be updated. Though, for some vehicles we have specialized tuning for larger gears. If you're unsure, contact one of our MPT Experts.

Post Purchase Tune Questions

We are proud of the hard work put into our MPT tunes, but we understand not everyone has the same personal preference. We offer 60 days of preference based changes. This allows the consumer to experience the night and day difference of MPT tunes first hand and then provide us with any feedback or notes for revisions. This 60 days also includes data logs to review the performance of the vehicle while tuned. Our ultimate goal is to make sure you are 100% happy with the MPT tunes. If you are not, then we want to know about it and fix it.

If you already have tunes from MPT, you will not have to purchase all-new tunes.*

Some modifications require changes to the tunes and some do not. We review these on a case by case basis. Most modifications purchased from MPT will come with a free update to your existing MPT Tunes. For modifications purchased elsewhere, MPT offers a highly discounted Tune Update. There are 3 different levels, depending on the complexity of the modification and the required tuning for it.

If you are unsure which level is best, contact an MPT Expert.

*Going from naturally aspirated to forced induction requires the purchase of all-new tunes.

Datalogging is not mandatory, unless we are looking to help you solve an issue with the vehicle. However, if you would like to complete one and send it to us, we will gladly review it and let you know if any adjustments need to be made.

How to Datalog Your Vehicle:

Yes, you can. All 3 of the SCT tuners we carry, the nGauge, and the COBB Accessport, all have the ability to save the data logs on the device.

On-Device Datalogging:

Please note that a computer will still be required to retrieve the data log from the programmer.

SCT Tuners and the COBB Accessport will save your stock tune directly to the device, when you load your first tune. Both will give you options to return to stock on the tuner.

If you are trying to return your vehicle to stock and you keep getting the error message "Wrong Stock File". This is because the standard procedure on the nGauge for returning to stock doesn’t apply to the 2017+ vehicles. You will need to follow these instructions in order to complete this task.

How to return to stock with an nGauge

Simply return the vehicle to stock. Once you get the vehicle back and before loading any tunes, please reach out to an MPT Expert, so we can assist you in confirming whether your tunes need any adjustments.

Possibly. It is always best to contact an MPT Expert before loading your tunes, after a dealer visit. This is so they can verify if your tunes need to be updated for the new factory programming or not.

Yes, the OTA updates are unaffected while tuned. If using Cobb or HP Tuners, the pcm remains unlocked and retains functionality.

Do not re-tune the truck. First, use the tuner to read the vehicle's Strategy code, then contact an MPT Expert. They can assist with what steps need to be taken next.

Tuner / Programmer Questions

No, you can disconnect any tuner when you are not using it and store it away for safe keeping. The tuner does not have to remain plugged in for the MPT Tune to work.

SCT, COBB, and nGauge tuners will only work on one vehicle at a time and have a limit on how many times you can switch vehicles.

The RTD can be used on multiple vehicles, as long as credits and licensing has been done for all vehicles.

In many cases, the answer is yes. As long as the vehicle is supported by the tuning device and the original vehicle was returned to stock, you can use it to tune your new vehicle. Do keep in mind that some tuners do have a limit on how many times you can switch vehicles and an unlock may need to be purchased, should you exceed that limit.

Also, new tunes will need to be purchased for the new vehicle. This includes any licensing fee that may be required. Tunes for one vehicle cannot be used or transferred to a different vehicle.

Tunes are written for 1 owner, 1 vin, one device serial number.

Depending on the tuner, a wifi or internet connection may be required to complete some functions. Contact an MPT Expert for more information.

Yes, the tuners we offer all have the ability to read diagnostic trouble codes (DTC) that accompany the check engine light.

Yes, they can.

For the SCT tuners, a tune will need to be installed for this to be done. It can be an MPT Tune or a pre-loaded tune made by the manufacturer of the device.

For the HP Tuners RTD and nGauge, click the links below for instructions:

MPT sets the tire size and axle ratio within our tunes for many vehicles, saving you from having to adjust this yourself.

COBB Accessport: COBB Tuning offers a 12-month limited warranty. Click Here for More Information.

HP Tuners RTD: 1-year limited warranty from date of purchase. Click Here for More Information.

nGauge: No Warranty

Each tuner has specific software that you will need to download. MPT will provide links to any required program(s) in the email containing your tunes, but just in case, please see the links below.
This is has a two-part answer.
  1. In regards to the tuner, yes. You can sell or give the device to another person. There will be steps that must be taken before giving up ownership of the programmer and there may be additional steps and costs for the new owner to handle before using the tuner. Some of the tuners have a limit on how many times you can use it on different vehicles. Should you be at that limit, additional unlocks will need to be purchased by the new owner of the device. With all tuners, you'll want to make sure the device is compatible with the new vehicle.

    • SCT Tuners: The original vehicle must be returned to stock using the device. This unmarries the device from the vehicle, allowing it to be used on a different vehicle.
    • Cobb Accessport: The original vehicle must have the tune uninstalled. This unmarries it from the vehicle, allowing it to be used on a different vehicle.
    • HP Tuners RTD: The RTD has the ability to tune more than one vehicle at a time. To tune a new vehicle, HP Tuners Credits will have to be purchased for the new vehicle.
    • E-Motion nGauge: The original vehicle must be returned to stock using the device. Then, an unlock file must be obtained and loaded to the device.

  2. As for the MPT Tunes, they are non-transferrable. Tunes are written for 1 owner, 1 vin, one device serial number. The new owner will be required to purchase all new tunes for their vehicle. Tunes for one vehicle cannot be used on a different vehicle than they were built for.

MPT Tunes are non-transferrable. The new owner will be required to purchase all-new tunes, should they do any modifications to the vehicle that require the tunes be adjusted.

Fuel and Octane Questions

We expect fuel economy to retain the factory ratings. It's possible the MPG can increase or decrease. However, you as the driver have the biggest influence on the vehicle's fuel economy.

Premium fuel is recommended in general. Believe it or not, fuel octane makes a big difference in power. The higher the octane, the larger the gains.

When it comes to octane, you can only use a fuel equal to or higher than what you are tuned for. You cannot run fuel set for a lower octane than the tune.

For Example:
  • If a tune is written for 87 octane, you can use it with 87 octane or higher.
  • If the tune is written for 93 octane, you cannot use it with any octane lower than 93.

Yes, we can. Some vehicles may require additional upgrades / modifications to achieve this. Contact an MPT Expert for more information.

Altitude does not affect the tune or the fuel you can use with it. The rules for octane still apply. You cannot use an octane lower than what your tune is set for.

There is a difference between RON and US octane. Make sure you confirm which rating your fuel uses before selecting your tunes.

Octane Comparison:
  • 98 RON = 93 US OCT
  • 95 RON = 91 US OCT
  • 91 RON = 87 US OCT

The mixture of 93 octane and any lower octane will result in an octane below 93. Therefore, you would not be able to use a 93 tune with any lower octane still in the tank. It would be best to use or remove all of the lower octane and fill up completely with 93 before using an MPT Tune set for 93 octane.

Here's what we recommend:
  1. Run the lower octane as low as possible.
  2. Fill up completely with 93.
  3. Run the mix as low as possible.
  4. Fill up completely with 93.
  5. Load 93 tune.

You can find a link to our ethanol calculator here: MPT Ethanol Calculator.

Tips for Mixing:
  • Make sure to test your fuels before mixing to confirm the rating.
  • To get the most accurate results, mix the fuels in a separate container before putting it into the vehicle.

Dyno Tuning Questions

We do offer dyno tuning, by appointment only and on a case-by-case basis.

Not necessarily. Our MPT Tunes combined with data logging will result in the best calibration of your vehicle. Dyno tuning speeds up the process by having us do the datalogging for you in real-time, eliminating the delays that come with the back-and-forth via email.
